The Yoga Of Like
The Yoga of Like
Yoga means union.
Not contortion.
Not perfection.
Not performance.
Union.
Connection.
Belonging.
There was a fascinating study done with adolescents—from 9th through 12th grade—asking a timeless question:
Who are the “cool kids”?
Who is most liked?
Was it the ones with the highest GPA?
The most athletic?
The best dressed?
The best looking?
Surprisingly, no.
What the research found was something far simpler—and far more profound:
The most likable people were the ones who liked others.
They were the inviters.
The noticers.
The ones walking down the hallway of life saying,
“Hey Dan.”
“Hi Sarah.”
“Good to see you, Matthew.”
“Love your shoes, Caroline.”
They weren’t scanning for flaws.
They weren’t ranking people.
They weren’t judging.
They were looking for the good.
“What you appreciate, appreciates.”
This is the Gentle Mental Love Diet in action.
Judgment separates.
Appreciation unites.
The more judgmental the students were, the less likable they became.
The more open, warm, and curious they were, the more magnetic they became.
This is yoga.
This is union.
This is love in motion.
The Yoga of Like asks us to practice:
Liking someone’s shoes
Appreciating their hair
Noticing their tattoo
Complimenting their job
Admiring their style
Enjoying their energy
Finding one thing to genuinely appreciate
Not flattery.
Not manipulation.
But attention with kindness.
“Where attention goes, energy flows.”
The “cool kids” weren’t cool because they were impressive.
They were cool because they were inclusive.
They created warmth.
They created safety.
They created connection.
And connection is contagious.
“We are not here to impress one another.
We are here to recognize one another.”
So today, practice the Yoga of Like.
Give more likes in real life—not just online.
Like people out loud.
Like them first.
Like them freely.
Because the secret isn’t becoming more impressive.
The secret is becoming more appreciative.
And that…
is real love diet 💕
