The Secret To A Long Life

What if you discovered a simple secret that could help you and others live longer, healthier and happier lives? Harvard University researchers began looking for that secret 85 years ago when they first launched a study to discover, essentially, the secret to happiness.

Here’s what they found…

The secret to a longer, healthier and happier life does not involve complicated diets or exercise routines or classes or therapy or an amazing career or a lot of money. The secret is “Social Fitness”, the positive relationships we create during our lives.

They could have just asked any dog owner. Ever see how a young dog can add years to the life of an older dog in the same home? Ever smile and pet a little puppy that came bounding over with his tail wagging, sharing his love and affection so freely? Most of us crave companionship -- and respond with warmth when it’s offered. Companionship is our catnip. Relationships enrich us. We’re most happy with love and people in our lives.

All you have to do now is give and you’ll get.

Pick up your phone and call someone. Text someone you love. Tell them. Smile more. Reach out. If you want friends, be one. Reconnect. Go get coffee or go out to dinner. Get out more. Relationships don’t just come knocking on the door. We need to go get them. Ask yourself:

-Who would you call at 2:00 in the morning?

-Who has your back?

Now reverse the roles…

-Are you there for a friend in need?

-Do you neglect or ghost others because you’re too wrapped up in yourself?

The results are in. The secret is out. Happiness is simple. We get love by giving love.
