True Presence Is The Gift

 

In the Real Love Diet, we learn how to return home to ourselves — again and again — by coming back into the present moment. When we are lost in the past, we are reliving old stories. When we are worried about the future, we are rehearsing fear. The only place Real Love exists is here, in this breath, in this body, in this moment.

One of the most powerful practices we use is the 5-4-3-2-1 Mindfulness Meditation. It gently guides us out of the mind and back into the body — where peace lives.

5 — Notice five things you can see.

Soft colors, shadows, your hands, sky, a leaf, your coffee cup.

4 — Notice four things you can feel on your body.

The fabric on your skin, the ground beneath your feet, the air on your face, your heartbeat.

3 — Notice three things you can hear.

The hum of a fridge, birds, your breath, distant traffic, silence.

2 — Notice two things you can smell.

Fresh air, coffee, your soap, or simply the absence of scent.

1 — Notice one thing you can taste.

Mint, tea, a hint of sweetness, breath, or just the moment itself.

This is how we become human beings again — instead of human doings.

And then, we anchor ourselves even more deeply.

Say your full name three times — softly, lovingly.

This calls your spirit back into your body.

This gathers your energy.

This stops the leaky bucket of attention from spilling into yesterday or tomorrow.

Because the present is where your power is.

The present is where your intuition speaks.

The present is where love is.

This moment is the gift.

The present is the presence.

And your presence is the gift.

And always — always — breathe.
