Sloppy vs. Deliberate

Ever wake up and wonder how you ended up in this house, married to this person, living in this city, with all these children? Or did you ever wake up one day and realize that you spent years at a job that you have been miserable at, and you are left with this empty pit in your stomach? Well, I hope these are neither of your scenarios. But, I have to confess I felt at times, how did I get here? Is this a dream or a nightmare, and can I change this channel?

When I look back, I often felt like I woke up in a bad dream when I carelessly jumped into a job or relationship without weighing out the pros and cons. In my youth, I was rather impulsive, and through time and maturity I now have a pause button in place before plunging forward in the decision making process. Reckless choices have catapulted me into a state of deliberate thought, action, word, and deed in my adulthood, most of the time.

First of all, I practice going to the higher feeling thought in most situations. Avoiding negative thoughts can be more challenging than running a marathon, but I train my thoughts everyday. Secondly, I write down deliberately what my intentions are. They can be emotional, physical, spiritual, mental, or material aspects. I choose the seeds I would like to plant in my garden. The seeds for me personally can look like; serenity, love in my home, kind clients, supportive friends, healthy body, and a creative mind. Finally, after jotting those intentions down, then I close my eyes and feel it, see it, touch it, taste it, and smell it.

When deliberately creating our dreams, it is important to remember that karma, destiny, and life lessons can come into play. This is where God comes in. Yes, we plant our seeds, pause and reflect when making decisions, and then take action in the direction of where we would like to go. The results are ultimately up to God. If you have done your work through prayer, writing down your intentions, visualizing, and being clear about your destination. Then you can sit back and let God do his magic. Combining surrender with faith, you can now enjoy the passenger seat as God takes your steering wheel. You have done all that you need to do. It is time to relax, kick back, and enjoy the view. You have done your deliberate planting and the sloppy seconds will fall away!
