Row Gently

Remember that childhood nursery rhyme about rowing your boat gently down the stream? You know the one... "Row, row, row your boat...."

Well, that 19th century song is actually very spiritual in nature.

First of all, it doesn’t tell you to row your boat fiercely upstream, it says to row "gently down the stream." That means go with the flow. Go with the current.

The song then sings "...merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily....."

Four times. The reason there are 4 "merrily's" is because joy is one of the highest expressions of life and spirituality.

The song then continues.... "Life is but a dream." And it should be. Our lives should be wonderful. You can and should be happy. We can CHOOSE to row our boats in any direction. So we have to be careful about our choices.

Life does move swiftly, sometimes like a stream, and sometimes like a raging river.

Enjoy the ride. Go with the flow and don’t resist the natural flow.

"Row, row, row your boat GENTLY DOWN the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily merrily. Life is but a dream."

Thank you for reading and sharing and remember to always, always, always go where the love is.
