Would You Date You?

In my early 20s I read a book called “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron. One assignment in the book asks you to take yourself out on a date once a week.

You’re solo, but you’re on a date. You can do anything you want because it’s you, dating you.

I decided to try it. Every week I took myself to favorite restaurants, great movies and hikes. I got creative and did a few of the things I’d always wanted to do. I really started enjoying my “me” dates. I started looking forward to them, planning them. I grew to like my own company and learned how to have fun by myself.

Actually, I began to realize I’m pretty fun to hang out with. I laughed a lot, saw a lot and thought a lot. I made sure I had a good time. In other words, I liked dating me.

LOL.

So now it’s your turn. Would you date you?

What that assignment taught me was, it’s our job to fill up our own cup, our own soul. It’s an inside job.

Most dreams come true by doing.

Expecting others to make your wishes come true just leads to resentment under construction.

Loving yourself is the first step towards attracting a partner. It’s YOUR job to fill yourself up.

Think about the three or four things you’re looking for in a partner. Now BE everything on your list. Only we can give ourselves what we’re looking for.

Then when we DO finally connect with that special someone who is also filled to the brim with love rather than lack, we can have two overflowing cups spilling over onto others. As a couple you can go out into the world as copilots headed towards bettering and uplifting families, friends, neighbors, city, country and planet!

So, go out and put yourself on the calendar FIRST and watch your cup runneth over.

And always, always, always go where the love is! Namaste.
